Owensboro Grain presents “The Springs!”  CMA’s Fest 2014 Up & Coming Artists, “The Springs” sets the weekend to music! This is your chance to see Nashville’s number one ranked young duo on the main music site ReverbNation, up close and in person. Both members of this amazing group are originally from Alabama. Now being Nashville owensboro grain largerecording artists, they met while performing at the world-famous Bluebird Café in Nashville Tennessee. Male vocalists Stewart had won a Paramount “Star Search” competition at the age of 16, while the female singer of the duo, Holly, had made it to the third round of the preliminaries of NBC’s “The Voice” TV show. The Springs performances are a cross between Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, offering something for everyone making for a sing-a-long crowd pleasing good time on the Jagoe Homes patio stage. This amazing duo performed their high energy country/southern rock shows with acts Hunter Hayes, Eric Church, Florida-downtown night 2Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Alan Jackson,

Chris Joslin is the Executive Director of the International Bluegrass Music Museum here in Owensboro.  A self-identified “banjo nerd”, Chris is hopelessly obsessed with all aspects of bluegrass music.  This obsession comes in handy leading the only museum on the planet Chris Joslin Headshot webdedicated solely to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting the artifacts of bluegrass music. A veteran of Nashville’s bluegrass and acoustic music scene, Chris started his career touring and recording with the bluegrass group Crucial Smith. Since then he has performed with such diverse artists as Steven Curtis Chapman, Tim O’Brien, Michael Martin Murphy, Buddy Greene, Matthew West, and Rebecca St. James. Additionally, Chris is plays a part on  a broad spectrum of recordings for other artists that range from Bluegrass and Celtic to Americana. Joining Chris Joslin for this exciting evening of bluegrass music are some of the finest bluegrass 2014 FA5 June 27 Jimmy Church 070musicians in the area including Randy Lanham, Annabelle Watts and Mark Hargis of Kings Highway. It’s the perfect place to spend a warm summer night with someone special while Chris and his friends set the evening to music. A great venue with ambiance and tucked away in a romantic setting set to music each week thanks to our friends at Atmos Energy. Tonight’s Theme:  “Salute to Agriculture”.  It’s an all-star salute to our agricultural community! We’ll have more than 15 ag related vendors and three HUGE FARM MACHINES right there!  Plus a free “Petting Zoo” for the kids.  Be sure to bring your wide-angle lens! Your kids’ favorite “Cartoon Farm Animals” will be wandering around Smothers Park with its Signature Fountain, “Lazy Dayz” sprayplayground that includes giant trees that you can climb up from the INSIDE! Be sure to have your 12 or under kid register to win one of two kid’s bikes Walmart is giving away tonight.  Just register.  They pull out two names each week and the kids get to go to Walmart and pick out a bike! Plus, everyone will have fun in the spray ground and have a breath-taking view of the beautiful overlook on the Ohio.  We’ll have the Welborn’s kids’ Hula-Hoop contest at 7:45 followed by the Kroger Water Balloon Toss.  Winning couple gets a $30 Kroger Gift card and a towel.  We’ll “Toast to the Sunset” at dusk. Let the party begin!  It’s our newest venue and the Don Moore Auto Team brings the party to the Pier tonight with Kentucky singer/songwriter Josh Merritt. A native of Owensboro, Merritt has been making music since the early age of 9 years old after his Josh Merritt bandfather brought him home his first guitar. As a child he quickly picked up a love for writing songs and even more so for performing them. His warm heart and eagerness to entertain made him a natural on stage in no time at all. “It’s literally all I’ve ever wanted to do.” he says. “I can remember telling my kindergarten teacher I wanted to be a country music singer. Now 2014 FA5 Aug 15 Brasher Bogue 309I’m in my late 20s and rolling into big cities I never thought I would see to play shows for people I’ve never met. It’s a dream come true.” Now having traveled across the country sharing his music Merritt has played venues of every size, traveling to places like Key West, Fl; Little Rock, AR; Nashville, TN; Louisville, KY; Des Moines, IO; and Chicago, IL. With a hefty tour schedule and the release of a new live album scheduled for spring, 2016 is already becoming a busy year. The stage area overlooks both the Ohio River within easy walking distance of the new waterfall feature and the Signature Fountain, designed by the same people who created the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas.  Don Moore Automotive team sponsors the entire season where we host a free summer party every Friday!  Thanks to you, the entertainment is Hot Don…and just like Friday After 5, it’s fun and free.   8pm-11:30pm


Cromwell New Sound Overlook

 Our newest venue brings the newest talent to the party!  Tonight we present “Badd Dogg”.   The Cromwell Radio “New Sound Stage” overlooks the beautiful Ohio River but overlook beautyensures that no one overlooks future talented performers.  We’ve featured more than 600 performers in our 20 year history and many of the big bands and their members got their first start right here at Friday After 5.  This year we’ve teamed up with Cromwell Radio to present great new talent on their own stage.  It’s a beautiful backdrop and you have free front-row seats for all of the entertainment.  Join us tonight and every Friday and discover tomorrow’s talent at the New Sound Overlook.  Live entertainment begins at 7pm.
