It’s homecoming night at Friday After 5!  Big Rivers Electric brings Owensboro’s legendary band back to the Jagoe Homes patio stage. The band that started it all, the Velvet Bombers kick off tonight’s show. The Big Rivers ElectricBombers were the very first band to ever play at Friday After 5 twenty summers ago.  The remaining members will provide a memorable opening act tonight!  Then, it’s Larry Maglinger’s band, “Infatuation” taking the stage to set the rest of the night to music.  Special guest American Idol finalist, our own Jenny Beth Willis. BREAKING NEWS: Larry Maglinger will be making a special appearance singing his “Rod Stewart” tribute songs! We’re celebrating our 20th anniversary by giving new talent their chance to perform at Friday After 5 on the beautiful Overlook Stage. Our friends at LeannMusicCromwell Radio have helped us to assemble a cast of great new, up and coming performers of all ages to star each Friday all season long on the Cromwell Overlook Stage at the foot of Frederica Street on the riverfront.  Tonight LeAnne Musick dance students and a few surprise performers bring tomorrow’s talent to the stage!  This beautiful new addition to the award-winning riverfront is an ideal location to enjoy the area’s newest talent.  And just like Friday After 5, it’s free. Tonight’s Theme: “Family Night”.  There’s plenty of fun, too.  We’re hosting our 1st Pokemon GO “Chase” tonight in Smothers Park.  We’ve PokemonGoinvited every Pokemon GO Character and you’re invited to join the “Chase” and catch as many as your phone battery will allow.  They’ll all be there and the more players, the more Pokeman Go catches.  We’ll be setting some Pokemon records tonight!  Plus, Daviess County Library  be flying in special “Storybook Character” courtesy of TD’s Tuff Decisions Costumes who will join the kids at the resort quality “Lazy Dayz” playground in Smothers Park.  It includes a spray park, signature fountain and giant trees that you can climb from the INSIDE! We’ll invite five kids to test their Hula-Hooping skills at 7:45.  The winner gets a big gift basket from Welborns!  Then it’s time for the grown-downtown night 2ups to test their skills with the Kroger Water Balloon toss.  Winning couple gets a Kroger Gift Card and a towel to share.  Be sure to have your 12 or under kid register to win one of two kid’s bikes Walmart is giving away tonight.  Just register. They pull out two names each week and the kids get to go to Walmart and pick out a bike! Friday?  We have a Festival for That!

2016 MI RC Platinum color versionOwensboro is known for its many festivals.  We celebrate apples, BBQ, bluegrass, Daylilies, bourbon and airplanes. But Friday After 5 celebrates Friday.  It’s our favorite day and for sixteen Fridays in a row we throw a party each summer.  It’s so big; it’s so fun; it’s so family friendly (plus the fact it’s free) helped earn us the honor of being named “Platinum Award Winning Community Event/Attraction”.  See what all the excitement is all about.  We’ll be waiting for you!
