We go nuclear tonight on the party pier! “Big Atomic”, from Louisville, Kentucky, is a band that blurs the lines between funk, rock, rhythm and blues. Formed in 2013, BA has been working hard ever since. The band released their self-titled debut EP in August of 2014. In December of 2014 the band performed on “Sounds Good: Live Lunch”, aired and hosted on the local NPR affiliate WKMS. The band was also featured in the Jan/Feb 2015 issue of Relix Magazine in their “On The Rise” section. In addition, their single “Letting Go” was on the compilation CD along the likes of Punch Brothers and Gov’t Mule. After winning the second annual WKMS Battle of the Bands in March of 2015, the band teamed up with Tinderbox Music for a nationwide college radio campaign, releasing their EP to over 200 radio stations. Most recently, the group has licensed songs for sync in several major network television shows. With no end in sight, Big Atomic will continue to write, record, and perform including tonight’s free appearance at Friday After 5 celebrating our “Summer of Love”. One of the many amenities of the downtown renovation is the giant “Party Pier” outside the new Owensboro Convention Center.  It’s a perfect venue for enjoying live entertainment with a breathtaking backdrop.  The stage area overlooks both the Ohio River and is near the new waterfall feature and the Signature Fountain, designed by the same people who created the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas.  Don Moore Automotive team sponsors the entire season where we throw a party every Friday night all summer long!   And, just like Friday After 5, it’s fun and free.  9:30pm-12:30am
