Tonight the people that make Ragu & Bortolli sauces right here in Owensboro double their recipe for fun by setting tonight to music celebrating our “Summer of Love”. “Wilson Crowe”, is on the Jagoe Homes patio stage and the “Louisville Crashers” round out the night on the Party at the Pier. (see below.). “Wilson Crowe” is a great Country/Southern Rock Band featuring Josh Wilson, Mark Crowe, Eric Sharp, Michael Wilson, Dustin Fuqua, and Cory Crowe, Michaeleigh Wilson and Wade Carver. Tonight, country rocks our “Summer of Love”! The show is on a beautiful venue overlooking the Ohio on the BB&T Plaza at the RiverPark Center. It’s all made possible by Mizkan, the people who make Bertolli and Ragu sauces right here in Owensboro. One hundred and fifty semi-trucks filled with goodness leave every day. Thanks Mizkan, Ragu and Bertolli. Tonight’s PreUnions: Hancock County Class of 1967 and Daviess County Class of 1997. “Wilson Crowe” performs from 6:30pm-10:00pm
Tonight, a great high energy bluegrass band returns to the Atmos Energy Courtyard. “Blue Diamond” features Mike Hobson, Joe Bob Pierce, Ted Lolley and Mark Hargis celebrating the countdown to the grand opening of the new $14mm International Bluegrass Music Center later this year. Tonight’s free show takes place in a unique venue. Twenty years ago Atmos Energy gifted the “Courtyard” to the then new RiverPark Center. Now they graciously sponsor all of the entertainment in the Atmos Courtyard all season long at Friday After 5. Thanks, Atmos Energy for all you do for our community. 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
There’s a Party on the Pier tonight! But then again, where ever the Louisville Crashers play, a party follows. One of the most popular bands to ever appear at Friday After 5 returns for our 21st anniversary “Summer of Love” and puts the “Party” in the Party on the Pier tonight. Every song is a show. This is the band that made that girl with the cowbell famous by getting her up on stage and bringing the house down at the same time. They’ve opened at the Superbowl and are the ultimate party band. Let your ears hear for yourself but WARNING: We cannot be responsible for sore feet Saturday morning after partying with the Crashers. No band, big or small has brought the fun to the pier with more fun than the Louisville Crashers. Back by popular demand and you’ll demand that they come back next season! Downtown set to music made possible all season long by Don Moore Automotive. The Party Pier? It’s Hot Don! Thanks for setting tonight to music! 8pm-11:30pm….or whenever you let them stop playing!
Ahoy! It’s the night boaters from around the region have waited for all summer long! Tonight, Friday After 5 presents our 2nd annual “Ahoy on the Ohio” boat parade. You’ll enjoy boats of all sizes, decorated for the big night and ready to parade upstream from the “Party at the Pier” up past Smothers Park all the way to the RiverPark Center patio! If you can’t be ON the river, you have to be on the riverfront to get the full effect of this special evening! There’s fun, food and great music for the landlubber! We’ve invited “Star War” characters to the party courtesy of TDs Tuff Decisions Costumes so be sure to bring the kids and have your camera phone ready. Have your 12 or under kid register to win one of two kid’s bikes Walmart is giving away tonight. Just register. They pull out two names each week and the kids get to go to Walmart and pick out a bike! Plus, we’ll have artists and their works displayed on the warm, romantic riverfront. Owensboro’s Kroger Stores team up to present a fun street fair all season at Friday After 5. Kroger hosts our family friendly, safe and street fair. We’ll have the kids’ Hula-Hoop contest sponsored by Welborn’s followed by five brave couples competing in the Kroger Water Balloon Toss. Winning couple gets a Kroger Gift Card. The losing couple gets a towel. It begins at 7:50 and will end about four balloon bursts later. Then at dusk, join us in our “Toast to the Sunset”. The nightlife begins when the sun goes down. The entire family will enjoy the resort-quality Smothers Park which includes a spray park, magical trees that you can climb (from the INSIDE) plus a breath-taking view of the Ohio river. Just like Friday After 5, all of the fun is free. After you’ve visited our free FA5 Foto Booth, sign up your kid (12 and under) for the Hula-Hoop contest at 7:45pm during the band’s break. We’ll start the music and see who can hula hoop the longest to “Let’s Twist Again Last Summer”. Then it’s the grown up’s turn in our fun-filled “Water Balloon Toss”. We have six couples but only one couple stays dry and wins the Kroger gift card. The others get a towel. We’ve invited “Sponge Guy” to the party courtesy of TDs Tuff Decisions costumes. You’ll find entertainment on the overlook and as you continue strolling you’ll end up at the Don Moore “Party on the Pier” featuring “The Louisville Crashers” tonight. Fun. Free. Friends. Friday After 5. Where the Weekend Begins.
Tonight we continue our 13th consecutive season of Glenn’s Gospel on the River with “Paul Moseley & Friends” and the exciting “Childress Family”. There will be a special guest, too. It’s a wonderful addition to all of the free and fun Friday After 5 activities. You and your family will enjoy this special luxurious venue. Glenn Family Services has already bought your ticket! Doors open at 6pm. Show begins at 7pm. Fun. Free. Family.
Our newest venue brings the newest talent to the party. The Cromwell Radio “New Sound Stage” overlooks the beautiful Ohio River but ensures that no one overlooks future talented performers. Tonight, we welcome “Fight to Remain.” We’ve featured more than 600 performers in our 21 year history and many of the big bands and their members got their first start right here at Friday After 5. This year we’ve teamed up with Cromwell Radio to present great new talent on their own stage. It’s a beautiful backdrop and you have free front-row seats for all of the entertainment. Join us tonight and every Friday and discover tomorrow’s talent at the New Sound Overlook. Live entertainment begins at 7pm.
