“Wulfe Bros.” brought to life by Owensboro Health

Dancing burns about 340 calories and hour!  That’s why Owensboro Health brings the “Wulfe Bros.” to the dance party.  Owensboro Health 2013 web You’ll find “The Wulfe Bros.” right on the corner of “Dance Blvd” and “Fun Lane”. They are high-energy, professional entertainers with many years of experience and it’s a show you and your feet won’t want to miss.  Three musicians, each with distinctive vocal talents capable of singing lead or harmony bring the great songs and fun to the Jagoe Homes patio stage tonight. Their instrumental ability allows them to adapt to their surroundings with a full, complete sound. The Wulfe Bros. set our “Summer of Love” to music with a diverse combination of music, fun and excitement. Their ability to deliver the right style of entertainment at just the right moment, sets them apart from “just another band.” We’ll give you a breather at 7:45pm for Welborn’s Hula Hoop contest for the kids and Kroger’s Water Balloon toss.  Join us as we “Toast the Sunset” and get back to the business end of the dance floor until 10pm tonight.  Owensboro Health, headquartered here in Owensboro features an award-winning facility and team that keeps the region healthy.  They figure you could burn up 1,000 calories tonight thanks to the “Wulfe Bros.” beginning at 6:30pm on the Jagoe Homes Patio Stage.  Plus, who knows; someone may “pop the question” tonight. Shawn Brashear is a music performer now in Owensboro. Born in Mississippi, where he was exposed to the Blues and other styles of American roots music.  He has an unbelievable ability to perform unrehearsed songs on the spot.  With a sound that is spawned from a colorful fusion of many types of musical styles such as, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, and Classic Rock. His live performances use a Looper to take popular songs and make them, uniquely, his own in and combination with a wide and versatile vocal range his shows are an exciting thrill ride of familiar tunes and spontaneous Avant Garde musical jams sessions that will entertain people of all ages. More than 20 years ago Atmos Energy gifted the RPC Courtyard to the community.  Twenty years later, they came back, redecorated the Courtyard, added overhead party lights and new landscaping.  Atmos Energy is sponsoring the entire season of great artists in the courtyard during Friday After 5. Tonight’s show begins at 7pm and continues until 10pm tonight.  Like everything at Friday After 5, it’s free!

Tonight, it’s the wildest dance party of the season with DJ Night!  The greatest hits in recorded history sets this party on the pier to music. Shaina Tinnell, DJ and Owensboro KY native, has attended countless music festivals all across America and is ready to bring her experiences to her hometown through her DJ career! She’s been a music enthusiast all her life, has played sports and traveled all around the world as well. She loves people and loves to dance. Come let loose and get your groove on! The lights, the sound, the fun, the friends!  Don Moore and his team will have special cars on site.   Tonight’s DJ Night will provide a great backdrop for our “Summer of Love” that continues tonight on the romantic Ohio river.   The party starts at 7pm and the music begins at 8pm and continues non-stop until 11:30pm.  Congratulations to our own Kentucky Legends brand who just purchased the naming rights to the Pier, now the Kentucky Legends Pier.  All the fun will continue on the Don Moore Party at the Pier Stage!

“Cromwell Showcases New Artists on the Overlook”

It’s always a special night on the Cromwell New Sound Overlook!  Your friends at Cromwell Radio are bringing up and coming talent to the Overlook all season long. Tonight:  Jangle Sheep and Rare Dog Days! The Jangle Sheep rock into town from Evansville with Mike Cassidy: Guitar, Vocals, Jake Bethel: Bass, Vocals, Travis Horton: Guitar, Vocals and Sean Adams: Drums, Vocals.  Tonight they share the bill with Rockport’s Rare Dog Days featuring Kaleb-vocals/guitar, Daniel-guitar/keys, Evan-bass and Drew on drums, percussion and vocals.  You’ll find the most promising artists and musicians every Friday on the beautiful Overlook stage this season.  Many of the best bands got their start at Friday After 5 over the past 20 years so we’re providing a special venue for rising stars in the region.  Tune into 92.9 WVJS for live remotes from the venue each Friday! Live entertainment begins on the beautiful downtown “Overlook Stage” at the foot of Frederica at 7pm each Friday.

Friends. Food. Fun. Free.  Tonight’s Street Fair theme is “Healthy Kick Off to Summer”! Our Daviess County Extension Office will have fun and healthy activities for the kids and you, too! First 200 kids get a summer “goody bag” plus we’ll host contests, parachute games and the kids can register for drawings for free summer fun!  We celebrate too by giving our non-profit organizations free booths at the Kroger Street Fair.   Tonight, We’ve invited everyone’s favorite, Scooby to the party courtesy of TDs Tuff Decisions Costumes!  Bring your camera phone!  Be sure to have your 12 or under kid register to win one of two kid’s bikes Walmart is giving away tonight.  Just register.  They pull out two names each week and the kids get to go to Walmart and pick out a bike! It all takes place around the award-winning Smothers Park, named the #1 Park in the World just last year!  It’s 100% handicap accessible and includes trees that kids can climb FROM THE spray parkINSIDE!  Then they can “slide” their way back down the three stories on our fun and safe slide rides!  If you can get your kids out of the park, you can enter them in tonight’s Hula-Hoop contest and then it’s the grown-ups turn competing in the Kroger Water Balloon toss.  2014 FA5 Aug 15 Brasher Bogue 045We’ll all “Toast the Sunset” at dusk.  Working up an appetite?  There are great restaurants and pubs downtown!  But before you can get the kids to eat, you’ll have to coax them out of the resort quality “Lazy Dayz” playground in Smothers Park, part of the Friday After 5’s fun all season long.  The kids can splash their way through the spray park then swing from our magical trees and walk above all of the fun in the park.  Yes, it is fun.  It’s Friday After 5.  It’s all free thanks to our friends at Kroger!
