Jim Gustin seemed to be born in the wrong place at the wrong time. He grew up in LA, listening to Southern Rock bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allmans and Marshall Tucker Band, What is Southern Rock? Its more than just geography. It is a combination of rock, country and blues.

He cut his teeth playing the hard rock and metal clubs of the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, but he never totally fit in. You’re too bluesy, people would say. When he played Country, folks said you’re too rock and roll and as for blues, it took many years to be able to play the blues as a legit bluesman.
